How We Help

ADULTS

Our therapy program with adults largely focuses on helping individuals understand cognitively (at the conscious level) issues that have been driving them on a subconscious level. By uncovering these unconscious motives and releasing the negative tension around them, we can help individuals realize their potential and make positive choices free from the distress they may have felt or experienced.

Our therapies to relieve tension may involve the use of techniques like bringing awareness to body reactions, rhythmic exercises and the more modern methods like neurotherapy, sound therapy, and Interactive Metronome to aid the physiological aspects of the healing process.

CHILDREN & TEENS

Our work with children and teens is focused on not only addressing the problems of the individual but also on creating a safe environment for the child/teen using a family systems approach. We work with the parents of the child to release any tension or stress that they may carry in order to effectively foster relationship and effective communication between the parent and child. We have found that in providing therapy for the family system rather than just the child, we are able to provide an environment that fosters long term improvement and sustained emotional health of the child.

Our therapies with children involve play and parent coaching.

Therapies

Interactive Metronome

The Interactive Metronome (IM) is a therapeutic assessment and training program that improves attention, concentration, motor planning and sequencing. Improvements in those areas result in stronger motor control and coordination, enhanced balance and gait, and improved language and cognition. Motor planning and sequencing are central to human activity - from the coordinated movements needed to walk or climb stairs, to the order of words in a sentence to provide meaning.

(EDMR) Eye Movement

Desensitization & Reprocessing

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a clinically-proven evidence-based psychological therapy. It is especially effective in the treatment of PTSD and has been endorsed by numerous international organizations and government bodies.

(DLS) Dynamic Listening System

Dynamic Listening System(DLS) is a Tomatis-based sound therapy. It uses gated and filtered music and a bone conductor to help with the retraining of the ears and the brain in the ability to process sound more efficiently.

LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback System)

IMG-8379.JPG

The Low Energy Neurofeedback System (LENS) is a form of brain wave biofeedback, or neurofeedback, Neurofeedback is a noninvasive procedure that involves monitoring and analyzing EEG signals, and using the EEG information as feedback. The feedback is delivered through an antenna that is actually the same cables that are used to monitor brain waves. The feedback signal is invisible and of profoundly low power, but produces measurable reaction in the EEG. The EEG signals that are recorded via the electrodes influence the feedback, and the feedback, in turn, changes the EEG pattern. The qualitative results from the LENS treatment are the same as those from other forms of neurofeedback that use an operant conditioning approach; yet, the LENS accomplishes symptom reductions in approximately one quarter the time, with the same durability of treatment effects.
